ADELAIDE SAILING CLUB SOUTH AUSTRALIA

2nd - 6th February 2026 - Adelaide Sailing Club

 

 The Venue

The Championship will take place at Adelaide Sailing Club on the waters of St Vincent Gulf. The Gulf is 35 Nm wide and open to the South West. The prevailing wind is from the south-west and is enhanced by the sea breeze during the summer.

Adelaide Sailing Club is situated between the popular summer holiday regions of Glenelg and West Beach. A wide range of accommodation options exist in both suburbs and are joined by a walking / cycling path past the sailing club.

Adelaide Sailing Club is 10km from the Adelaide’s CBD and only 5km to the International Airport.

The club has ample grassed rigging area and sheltered wide beach sheltered launching. Racing is on open water within 1nm from launching.


Adelaide Sailing Club

Adelaide Sailing Club is a volunteer-run “off the beach” sailing club. It caters for a wide range of dinghies and catamarans. These include:

  • Optimist and International Cadet
  • OK, Finn, Contender and ILCA single handers
  • Fireball, 420, Sharpie, International 14
  • VX One small keelboats
ASC 1 Aerial -marina -resort -1024x 576-1-768x 432

 

The Adelaide Sailing Club has extensive facilities, attracting families, beginners and experienced sailors:

  • Large, grassed rigging areas
  • Wide sheltered beach launching area
  • Convenient public power boat launch ramps adjacent to the clubhouse.
  • The sailing area is a short sail from the Club’s launch area and visible from the club balcony
  • Large car parking
  • The Club itself, offers a full bar and dining facilities
  • A bike / walking path connects the club to summer holiday suburbs West Beach to the North and Glenelg to the South

ELIGIBILITY

The event is open to all boats of the International Fireball class - Australian or International.

The Australian Champion trophy will be presented to the first Australian Skipper.

Perpetual heat trophies and all other event trophies are open to all entrants.

Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of $5,000,000 (recommended $10,000,000) per incident or the equivalent.

Accommodation

Adelaide Sailing Club is situated in West Beach Parks, adjacent to the West Beach Parks Caravan and Cabin park. This park has a wide variety of accommodation options and is only a 10-minute walk to the sailing club. More details are below.

The suburbs of West Beach (to the North) and Glenelg (to the South) are the prime holiday regions for Adelaide. Hotel, Motel, Guest House, AirB&B and rental options abound in these suburbs. It is an easy walk or bike ride along the beach path from these suburbs to the sailing club.

ACCOMMODATION NEAR ADELAIDE SAILING CLUB

There are many accommodation options listed on the web site www.adelaidebeaches.com.au.

Any sites within the suburbs Glenelg (to the south) or West Beach (to the north) are close to the regatta site and connected by the bike / walk path.

The closest accommodation is at the West Beach Parks.
