Class Rules update: Camera & Tracker

Class Rules effective from 1st June 2026

8 PROHIBITIONS

8.1 General Prohibitions

The following are prohibited:

a. Hydraulic and pneumatic controlled equipment

b. Underdeck jib furling gear

c. Electrical or electronic instruments

d. Transom scuppers

e. Lightening holes in thwarts

f. Sheets or halyards led through the watertight compartments

g. Materials containing carbon fibres with a modulus higher than 250GPa

8.2 Exceptions

Notwithstanding the above prohibitions, the following are permitted:

a. Self-contained electronic timing devices and electronic digital compasses that do not have data correlation capabilities;

b. Pulley blocks and fixed fittings, made from resins containing short strand fibres of any material, attached directly to the hull;

c. Recording cameras and tracking devices affixed on the hull according to class rule 13 provided that data from such devices  shall not be accessed on board when racing.

 

Please note that the SIs will include that use of footage from a camara on board will not be allowed in any protest scenario. This is from a direction by World Sailing.
